Name: Caleke
Name Pronounced: Kah-leak
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Character Type: Wherhandler
Rank: Journeyman Healer
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Current Location: Angel's Cove Weyr
Appearance: Standing at 5'8", Caleke has dark, gently wavy, red-brown hair that takes on a coppery shine and falls to about midback, kept back by a braided lock, but when working, it tends to fall loose. His bangs curl only a little and have a tendency to get in his caring and trusting, dark sea green eyes more often than not, but he refuses to have them trimmed any shorter, preferring them as a natural sunblock. His skin is a deep golden tan from being outside all the time and he has a lean, somewhat thin build at the moment due to just recently getting over a severe case of Firehead. He wears earthen colors of loose-fitting wherhides and cotten-woven shirts that are usually open partway down the front. He wears a leather necklace that holds a few small shells from his cothold on the sea.
Personality: Caleke is often seen with a smile on his face. Before he had a bout with Firehead, he didn't smile half as much. Since the illness had nearly taken his life, he has made it a point to see at least one person smile in a day's work. Every day is a gift to him and he will gladly tell a sad face that. Shyness is not in his vocabulary. It never was. He enjoys social events and loves to talk if someone wants to talk with him, but he will keep quiet if someone just needs a shoulder or someone to listen to them. As for advice, well, he's not the best to get it from, but he tries! With his soft, welcoming voice, hardly a soul turns away from him. He loves whers, having grown up around the creatures and would gladly help a wounded or sick one or any creature for that matter.
History: Born on a warm summer's eve, Caleke and his twin brother Calreke were the last children to Saneeka for she died during their births. Their father's brother, a Journeyman Healer, had to remove Caleke from his mother's womb to save him since she died shortly after she had Calreke. In his first few turns, Caleke's immune system was extremely weak and he seemed to always catch some sort of cold or illness, but his twin had never once caught even a cold. The boy did as much as he could around their little cothold on the sea, but he was more often resting on a cot somewhere with a cold-weakened body, one of the family whers curled up at his side.
During a particularly cold winter in his 11th turn, Caleke had caught pneumonia and it wasn't uncommon to see several of the family's whers curled up around him, giving him their body heat. It was obvious that they had no intention of letting him leave them. And leave them, he wouldn't. Once he'd recovered from that sickness, he took a strong interest in healing, mostly in whers, but he learned everything he could about healing from bodily to the mind. If he couldn't pick up a craft, he was going to beat his weakness with it's cure.
At 17, his mother's gold wher's clutch hatched and of the five eggs, one particularly large egg didn't hatch, but remained warm. Caleke took notice in that and cracked the egg open himself, hoping to find a live wher within. Sure enough he did. The tiniest little wher he'd ever seen looked up at him, but he moved no more. Explaining that the blue was alive, the teen took him out of the egg and nursed him himself. Not a few sevendays later, the little blue actually blooded Caleke and spoke to him for the first time. Since then, the two have bonded to the point where separation is very rare, the little blue always at Caleke's side or watching him when he can't be with him.
In spring of his 21st turn, Caleke and his family met up with a Pernite's worst fear: Firehead. His twin brother had caught it on a trade route and sadly brought it home, giving it to his family. Caleke easily caught it, but managed to help the others until he was so weak he could barely move, becoming bedridden. Despite their efforts to survive the illness, it took Calrev, Calreke, Neeka, and Sanree, sparing Sanrev, Revee, and Caleeka and surprisingly Caleke who had barely managed to come out of it.
At 22, it was decided as a family, that they all move from their cothold into Angel's Cove Weyr to not only provide help to the reviving Weyr, but also to hope for more contact with folk that could help them with their whers, since their parents had passed on along with the bronze and gold wher of their family.
Shuteth's clutch has hatched and twenty dragonets have Impressed and Shii called Caleke to her office about the little betting game that had gone on around the Weyr about the Hatching. And Caleke walked from the Weyrwoman's office that day with a newly hatched bronze firelizard to add to his little family.
Misc./Random Facts: Often found reading some sort of medicine book or trying to cheer others up. Also, he's found a way to make medicines taste better so that youngsters and beasts will actually take them without wasting them due to taste.

Wher Information:
Wher Name: Calbolt
Wher Color: Blue
Wher Age: 5
Appearance: Calbolt is very tiny for his color, so small that he could be the smallest wher on Pern, but he has decent proportions. He is a soft dark blue, like that of an evening sky opposite the setting sun and no other distinguishing marks save for a small streak of sky blue trailing down his face from his ridges to his nose.
Personality: Calbolt is a very quiet wher, preferring to listen to what his chosen thinks and talks about over much else, making him quite the smart little wher. He only sleeps when Caleke does so that he can always be a beckon away if Caleke needs to talk. As for other whers, he isn't much for their company unless they're of his family and as for people, he'd just as soon hide behind Caleke when being introduced to someone new than go up and say 'hello' himself. The only time he isn't by Caleke's side is if he absolutely cannot follow him or if Caleke gets ill. Only then will he leave him in order to seek out someone to help him, usually able to find a healer even when he passes by several folk.
Abilites and Weaknesses: He's never chased, never had the chance to. He's very smart and is often seen helping his chosen with his duties.
Weyr of Origin: Angel's Cove Weyr
Sire/Dam: Bronze Revy/Gold Sani (both gone)

Pet Information:
Number of pets: 1
Pet 1 Type: Bronze Firelizard
Pet 1 Name: Scurry
Appearance: He's a rather large bronze, even though he's only just recently hatched, but he's a handsome one. Scurry is short coupled with a rather long neck and tail and even longer wings. A fairly even shade of gleaming bronze, he shines more than gleams, but is easily an eye catcher. His wings are so long that when he stands with them furled, their tips sometimes drag on the ground, so he's more often than not perched on something or airborne.
Personality: High and mighty and 'fearless', or so he'll make you think so. If something startles him, he's the first to hiss in annoyance and scurry a short distance away to be able to turn and glare at whatever had startled him, but he's harmless. It's all show and no action for this big bronze unless he's chasing, then he's at the front of the pack. Usually calm and watchful, but he'll move off in a hurry if he needs to and he'll be an easy one to carry messages once he learns what to do.
