Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Here's a list of some of the most frequently asked questions we get from people when they apply to the weyr.
Q. Can I have a Gold/Bronze dragon?
A. No. Golds and Bronzes are available by Impression only here at Angel's Cove. We're a small weyr right now and we wouldn't want to be overrun with dragons that wouldn't have a lifemate. So...yeah. Besides Impression though, you may get a Bronze or Gold dragon by BoD approval only and you must have a good reason why your charrie has one.
Example 1: I just want a gold/bronze dragon because they're the best colors. -BAD
Example 2: I've been roleplaying DRoP for a long time and have charries in other weyrs that have other colored dragons. I understand the work and responibility involved in having a bronze/gold dragon and will do my best to prove that I am a good choice for one. -GOOD
Q. Can I have a Gold/Bronze firelizard or a Gold/Broze wher?
A. Again, no; the metallic colors are by BoD approval only. They will be available at Gathers rarely and also be give out by the BoD to those we feel have earned them.
Firelizard Wise: At this time it is considered rare to find a wild gold with her clutch and even rarer that the clutch of said gold would hold another gold. Bronzes are a little more flexable. They can be sold at gathers by traders rarely and golds aren't sold at all.
Wher Wise: Most "pet" whers will be Angel Cove's special brand of whers; called Crique whers, which are slightly larger than other whers, but more manageable and less likely to hurt random people. You'll need a really good reason for your character to have a wher in the first place and it would be possible, though rare, to be able to buy a bronze wher at a gather. Golds are only available by BoD approval, the same as the firelizard and dragon of that color. Note that the stall would be BoD run and you'd have to approach one of us about a wher before you tried to purchase it.
Extra note about whers: If your persona gets a wher, then that character CAN NOT be a Candidite or a Dragonrider. If you have a Candidite that purchases one he or she will be taken out of candidacy and will not be allowed to stand for the Hatching. There will be NO exceptions to this rule.
Q. Can I have a Red/Black/etc.. Dragon?
A. Not at this time. The only dragon colors we have are gold, bronze, brown, blue, and green. White dragons will be VERY rare. Also, please note that Pernese dragons possess the power of flight, teleportation (via between), firebreathing (after chewing firestone), telepathy, and empathy. Pernese Dragons cannot breath ice, or perform nuclear attacks, or turn people to stone.
Also, here at Angel's Cove, dragons do not use telekinesis despite the Canon discovery of this in The Skies of Pern. Just the thought of how confusing that would get makes poor Mel's head hurt. (That's the owner of Angel's Cove Weyr, btw.)
Please note that the Board of Directors/Moderators of Angel's Cove Weyr reserve the right to change this rule anytime they like.

Q. Can my Persona be a HAD (Hears All Dragons)?
A. It is possible, but you must present the BoD with a REALLY good reason for your charrie to be one. The weyr will only have ONE resident HAD at a time, no exceptions. Also, there will be no other types of Hear-Alls (ex: hears all whers, or hears all firelizards).
Q. Can my dragon time it?
A. We'd prefer it if you didn't. That just runs the risk of meeting yourself and it's complicated and so many things can go wrong. So, please don't.
Q. Do I need permission for my own plots?
A. Only if said plot affects the weyr as a whole. You don't need BoD approval to, say, go swimming with your dragon by the lake, or go play with the dolphins in the ocean. The only time you need approval is with something big like a fire or plague or something like that.
Q. Can my firelizard/wher have a clutch?
A. Yes, but only with BoD approval. The BoD will then divvy out the numbers and colors and choose who the eggs go to. Unlike with dragon clutches, the owner/handler of the flitt/wher will have some say in the personalities of the new babies as well as some say in who they go to. If you plan to have your firelizard/wher clutch, you must get BoD approval BEFORE sending out the flight post. Our members are allowed to have a mating flight within the limits of the colors rules. For flitts, this is twice in a weyr year, for whers it depends on the color. When sending a clutch for approval, please be sure to use the Clutch Approval form.

Q. I have a gold dragon, can I have her have a flight/clutch?
A. Only with BoD approval. Again, a gold will only rise once a year and be sure to use the Clutch Approval form when submiting the request. Also know that if you have a gold, and she does clutch, your character will have little control over who the gold's hatchlings Impress to. They may help with the personality of the hatchlings, but not with the Hatching itself.
