Month 3:
Along the edge of the lake, a lone tree stood basking in the sun,
allowing for shade to those who wished it. Now on simply a passing
glance one would believe someone had lost a golden scarf, for a long
banner of yellow hung swaying in the breeze. Howeve,r the long trail
of gold did not belong to a piece of clothing, rather it was a long
trail of hair leading up into the overhanging branches. A soft voice
sang softly along with the sweet trill of a flit. Lying back int the
branches, his little green perched against his neck as he sang the
lyics he was perfecting was a thirteen year old blonde boy, bright
brown eyes scanning over every word as he sang quietly, the little
flit adding in her own sounds every now and then. Apprentice or not,
the young lad had a voice few could deny and if he hadn't been
Searched for the Hatching, his heart definately would have focused
more towards his love of music...but as fate had it Oryen was
hopefully destined for a dragon of his own.
His mind drifted from the words before him as he thought back to only
a few sevendays ago when his mother found out he'd been Searched.
Quite the contray of being elated to learn your child had been
Searched his mother did NOT wish to let him go. He was her only son
and she'd nearly lost him once. The last thing she wanted was the
possibility to losing him again, this time on dragon back. His father
had been more reasonable, but his mother ruled the household and
after a long period of arguments and promises he'd been allowed to go.
SIghing, he placed the parchment on his chest and looked up into the
thick green leaves above him. "You think if I didn't have you,
Yinmin...that mother wouldn't have let me come?" He could not see her
as the little green thingyed her head, green eyes whilring slowly
before chirping and snuggling against his cheek and ear. He smiled
and closed his eyes. "I bet you're right...you' re just as protective
as she is, though I guess it's acceptable.. ."

Kiyoni had been out enjoying the warm day. She had finally managed some free time since her lessons as a candidate. Not that she was complaining. She owed the Weyr her life after all and she loved the idea of being a candidate, but sometimes it was nice to have some time alone.
The young woman decided to head down to the lake. She stood and watched the still water for a few minutes before a lovely sound caught her attention. She followed the singingm trying to figure out who it could be. She had never heard anyone sing so sweetly before. Kiyoni soon stopped underneath a tree. "Hello?" she asked when she caught a brief glimpse of Oryen.

Oryen's voice continued on, even as his eyes were closed. They were not lyrics he'd written, these were once from his heart and only after he'd heard the foregin voice did he wish he'd been writing them down. Blinking his eyes open he glanced around before cupping his hand under Yinmin and turning onto his belly to lay across the thick branch, his long legs straddling it as he gazed down at Kiyoni and smiled. "Hello...I didn't disturb you I hope," he said softly as his little green dozed soothingly against his throat.

Kiyoni was almost disappointed when Oryen stopped singing. She had truly enjoyed his voice. The candidate shook her head. "No, not at all," she smiled. "I enjoyed it. You're a very good singer. I'm Kiyoni by the way." She smiled when she caught sight of the little green by his throat. "May I ask why you're up in the tree though?" she asked curiously.
