(The picture lacks the facial scar, and L'bell doesn't wear glasses.)
Name: L'bell (Lebellon)
Name Pronounced: Luh-bell (emphasis on bell)
Age: 46
Gender: Male
Character Type: Dragonrider
Rank: Wingrider, Searchrider
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Current Location: Angel's Cove Weyr
Appearance: L'bell appears to be a small man upon first glance, though he stands a respectable 5'9". He also manages to appear weaker than he is, though by dragonrider standards he may well be somewhat weak. However, the most noticeable physical feature of L'bell is a scar from Threadscore that runs from his left eyebrow down to just below his left cheekbone. He has another scar from Thread on his right forearm, but it is usually covered. Otherwise, his features are fairly unremarkable. His eyes are a watery blue; his skin is pale; and his hair is shoulder-length, curly, and a dull greying brown.
Personality: He is not exactly shy, but content to keep to himself. He is much more comfortable in small groups of friends than in large groups of strangers, or even large groups of friends. His duty as a dragonrider is something of a struggle for him; adjusting to the arrival of Thread has not been easy, and even before he was not entirely comfortable with his job. Though, of course, he loves his lifemate unconditionally and would not trade anything for him, he still finds himself wishing he could have apprenticed to a craft in addition to becoming a rider.
History: L'bell, formerly Lebellon, grew up on a small cothold near Southern Boll. He was the youngest of five children, and not only did he have his older siblings to contend with, but cousins as well. Though Lebellon showed some aptitude for a few crafts, he never left the cothold to become an apprentice. At the time, it did not bother him. He continued to sing the Teaching Songs, learn about farming, sewing, cooking, and other skills to be used around the cothold. It was not until he was 15 Turns old that he truly considered another path for his life. That Turn, Searchriders from Fort Weyr were present at the summer gather, and L'bell was Searched. He Impressed blue Fallanth at his first Hatching. His one real regret in leaving home was leaving his sister, Nielly, to whom he was closest. At every opportunity he has visited her.
That aside, Weyr life opened him up to a great deal of new possibilities. Through the Turns, he's managed to make up for some of the lost opportunities of his childhood. When not tending to Fallanth, he studied some of the skills of various crafts. As a child he learned to play the drum adequately, and has since added to his repertoir the gitar and flute. (He's only a passable player of all three, with the flute being his weakest instrument.) He has also studied the Healercraft enough to be on par with a Healer apprentice, and is capable of mending clothes and making simple clothing himself. (Of course, he now rarely has free time to make anything himself.)
Life in the Weyr also opened him up to his own sexuality. He has had a number of lovers throughout the Turns, and listing them all would be a tedious business. The two most significant, though not the greatest loves, are the mothers of his two children. The first, Perdeni, was a greenrider and friend. Their relationship was never romantic. Perdeni's pregnancy was the result of a flight, and she chose to keep the child. Their child was a son, Perdellon. The boy was mostly raised in the weyr creche, and L'bell did not take a very active hand in raising him, but he has always tried to make sure that Perdellon was raised well. From ages 9 to 12, Perdellon was apprenticed in the Smithcraft at Telgar. He then returned to Fort Weyr as a Candidate, and after Standing four Hatchings, he Impressed brown Zdunith.
Remise is quite a different story from Perdeni. She and L'bell were friends for some Turns before becoming romantically involved. L'bell suffered a particularly painful relationship after Perdellon was born, and Remise was the one who was able to gain L'bell's trust and love after much work. Their daughter, Niremy, was not born until L'bell was 33. She is currently apprenticed as a healer.
Unfortunately, Remise died only 6 Turns later of a fever. The very next Turn was the beginning of the current Pass, and the Turn in which L'bell acquired his scars. In the first Turn of the Pass, L'bell acquired the scars on his face and arm. He foolishly attempted a maneuver to aid another rider who did not require his help. His wounds were not serious, but were (obviously) extremely painful. He may be said to be overly cautious now.
With Perdellon (now P'dellon) grown, Niremy apprenticed, and Remise gone, L'bell decided that the best place to make himself useful would be Angel's Cove.
Misc./Random Facts: L'bell has a decent baritone voice

Dragonriders:
Dragon Name: Fallanth
Dragon Color: Blue
Dragon Age: 31
Fighting Wing: King's Wing
Appearance: Fallanth is a dark gray-blue color that lightens only slightly on his underbelly. His color is otherwise fairly uniform though it has dulled somewhat, and he is average size for a blue. (About 48 feet long.) He, unlike his rider, has yet to be scarred by Thread.
Personality: Fallanth remains optimistic at all times, and is often a calming force for his rider. He is, however, rather possessive of L'bell and can worry excessively over his lifemate's safety.
Abilites and Weaknesses: Since L'bell's injury, Fallanth is (like his rider) more concerned about taking risks, to the extent that he is overcautious. He's also not quite as fast or agile as he once was. Though he is by no means unsuited to fly Thread anymore, his empathy makes him more suited to Searching.
