Keeva listened quietly. Blooding. That was the one thing she worried about. Why would a creature need to taste its handler's blood in order to bond? It didn't make sense. Glancing warily at all the others present, she tentatively raised her hand and once she was finally noted and acknowledged, she asked in her soft voice, "Why do they have to blood their handlers?" She hurt easily enough from something so simple as bumping into someone. She wasn't sure about this blood thing.

Angeeal nodded quietly, he'd read about that...Whers needed to drink the blood of their Bonded, unlike a dragon, to create a firm and stable bond between Handler and Wher. Turning his eyes to the Gold and Green he watched them quietly, allowing his mind to wrap around everything he was hearing, including Keeva's words. It was an unusual action for a creature to have to take in the blood of their Chosen, but it was something Angeeal would accept completely and totally.

Randy cringed a little at the thought of the whers needing to have some of their handler's blood. She really wasn't looking forward to that part at all. But if she could Impress a wher, she'd do whatever was needed. Although Keeva had a good question. Why did they need to do that?

Caleeka listened quietly and looked to Xesn at the inquiry from their quiet Candidate. After all, the gold handler did have the floor at the moment. While she waited for the response to come, she inquired of her wher, herself having never been certain as to why certain whers blood and others just decide and the bond is done. Her brother would know for sure. He specialized in the breeding of the Criques. Although those that did blood tended more toward the possessiveness of their handlers than those of choosing. Calbolt never left Caleke's side unless he absolutely had to. But Sanrek was the same with Sanrev yet he didn't blodd like the tiny blue had done. ~Calee no need to blood Calee's. Calee know Calee's never leave. Calee knows.~ was the answer to the whispered question of her handler. Well, if Xesn looked to her for a better answer, she would at least know her wher's side of things.

Xesn had caught Caleeka's glance. She grinned at the Candidates. "Well, to put it frankly, if you should die your wher would still live and bond with another person later on, or in rare cases go wild. With Gold and Bronze Crique Whers, they will go crazy and have to be put down." OOC-please let me know if anything is inaccurate!

Angeeal swallowed the instant he heard Xesn's words. He'd heard of the happening before, but never seen it. He looked down at his hands wondering, if a Wher was truly Bonded to Theirs then they would go mad without them...it made sense. They were much like dragons in some ways but in others they were different. He'd heard of Wher's Bonding to another human if Their's passed though he also heard that Bond was not a strong. So in his mind it was very similar to a Dragon's death. A Wher either went mad without Theirs or went wild, either way the Wher would lose both a handler and a Wher. Looking up at the Gold he sighed internally and wondered if she would do such a thing if Xesn passed on, Faranth forbid. Would, if Xesn clutched a Queen...would she do that?

Randy's eyes widened at Xesn's words. She hadn't realized that would happen to a Wher. She wasn't real crazy about the whole blooding thing, but if it saved a wher's life she knew she would do it.

Keeva silently breathed a cautious sound. That sounded horrible.
Caleeka decided this was as good a time as any to explain rebonding of whers. "I've seen it happen. My father had a bronze and my sister a gold, Xesna and Calee's sires. When Firehead took both of them, my brother had to sadly put the two down before they caused harm to the rest of us or other whers. It wasn't very pretty and I would wish that on no one, man or woman or wher." ~Calee miss Calee's dam and sire.~ Calee softly said to her handler, getting a reassuring pat from Caleeka.

Randy's mouth dropped open in a silent "o". She couldn't imagine having to do that. Although listening to what they said she could see why they needed to do it. But still, it sounded awful.

Keeva stayed put, her eyes drifting to Xesna and her handler after Caleeka's words. She loved creatures. They had never caused her harm like everyone else had done, save for those at the Weyr and Schadoe. If a wher were to go mean like that, she wasn't sure how she should react to that.

Angeeal sighed softly, depression was starting to set in from the news, though it was news that Angeeal was ready to accept without any problems. He just had to make sure he was always around for His, he knew there was no true way for him to always be around, but perhaps if he was able to reassure the Wher he Bonded with...maybe, just maybe he would be able to sway them to simply go wild and not into a rage if he happened to pass. "Is...well, is there any way to try and convince your Wher to go wild in case of your passing...I know you;re probably not able to but...maybe?" he asked softly.

Looking to Angeeal, Caleeka smiled. "I wish I could say there's hope in that, but I have never seen a record of a blood-bonded wher going wild after their handler's passing." Glancing at a the sun in the cavern's entrance, Caleeka noted that her next wher would soon be coming. "Now are there any more questions for Xesn and Xesna at this time?"

Randy listened quietly. She hated to think of a wher having to be put down. It was as bad as a dragon going between when their riders died. The girl sat quietly. She couldn't really think of any other questions.

--I'm gonna speed this one up a tad--
After seeing no more immediate questions, Caleeka smiled at Xesn and Xesna. "You're welcome to stay if you'd like. Revee and Veela are next and Veela is rather prompt to things involving other people," she said with a smile. Veela was one of the oddest whers she'd ever met. Turning back to the Candidates, the wherhandler smiled once more. "Now, our next wher is very excitable, so please don't be alarmed if she walks right up to any of you without a moment's hesitation. She loves any attention she can get."
Keeva nodded at the information, a bit worried, but a bit more calm of the fact that the next wher was a friendly one.

Randy perked up when she heard Caleeka mention Veela and Revee. The girl loved Veela. The green wher had been the first wher she had met and Revee had been very helpful and still was. Randy found herself asking him all kinds of questions.

Angeeal was still watching Xesn quietly, admiring her beautiful golden hide and calm demenor beside her Chosen. Turning his attention to the other Handler, Caleeka, he thingyed his head slightly. *Excitable, huh? Well this should be interesting,* he thought as his slender fingers gently caressed over and along the back of his little Crisis as Melia snuffled against his throat as she slept.

Cheery snuffles and croons echoed into the cavern as Veela's arrival was announced by her excited sounds. Revee had done all he could do to hold his green back the requested amount of time from interrupting the Candidates' time with Xesn and Xesna. The little green trotted right up to Xesna and looked up at her, pausing briefly in a wher sort of respect for the gold before carrying out her current train of thought. People! Spying one she knew, she went straight for Randy happily, snuffling and whoofing at the girl's hands for a rub. ~Veela say hi, hi, hi!!~ she told her handler as Revee trailed his wher's appearance. "Veela says hi," the handler echoed for his wher before giving Xesn and Xesna the proper respect. "I do hope we didn't interrupt anything. She was getting extremely hard to side track knowing she got to meet people," he apologized to not only the gold wherhandler, but also to his sister who was teaching the class.
Caleeka chuckled at her brother's wher, her Calee's sister. "Everyone, this is my brother Revee and his wher Veela. Revee specializes more in the breeding of our whers and his wher is quite the social one which also allows us to let Candidates be able to learn by experience much easier."

Randy chuckled and pet Veela's hide. She loved the little green and was always amused by her engery. "Hi, Veela," she said cheerily. she looked up at Revee and Caleeka, giving them both her attention while petting Veela still.
