Month 2:
Angeeal sighed deeply as he rushed towards his family's home. His
crazy little green Melia had once again made her fetish known and if
the lack of a belt buckle was any hint. "Mother!" he called as he
opened the door and paused when his brother Forvelt was inside aiding
a canine with her new litter. "Angeeal, this isn't a good time," his
brother said as Angeeal moved closer to his side. "Need any help?" he
asked as he watched the young female canine struggle through her
laboring, five squealing squirming pups were already cuddled up
against her. "No, she's nearly finished...don' t tell me, Melia stole
your belt buckle again?" The older brother nodded and Forvelt
chuckled before nodding back at the door. "Mother went to the Weyr
looking for father, something about a Runner acting weird."
Angeeal paused for a moment, watching as a tiny life was brought into
the world, a tiny black pup with adorable little white paws. Smiling
softly he nodded. "Thank you, and good luck with your new litter."
Forvelt smiled and nodded as he gently cleaned up and pup and laid
the pup closer to his mother for her to clean it. Turning Angeeal
left to make his way back to the Weyr, afterall with Melia's little
habit of stealing anything of his that is shiny well, she made it a
ritual to carry a few with her.
Angeeal<>Forvelt
Having split off from the caravan to wander along ahead, two teens a-runnerback and the third riding in the small wagon pulled by his golden runner, the brothers happened upon seeing someone out ahead of them, heading in the same direction. Mikan, the oldest of the three, urged his bay ahead to greet the other. "Hello, there!" he called cheerily from a distance as his other brother on a black hung back by the wagon to make a joke or two with his younger brother. Once Mikan had caught up with Angeeal, he grinned cheerily. "You headin' for Angel's Cove Weyr?" he asked to start up a conversation.
Mikan
***
Angeeal sighed as he treked his way back to the Weyr and he was sorely tempted to call his little brown and try to get him to find his mother and bring him a buckle...but the last times he'd tried the poor brown had dropped it 'Between'. The sound of hoof beats touched his ears and Angeeal turned a little bit before Mikan addressed him and he smiled as his hand clutched at his trousers a bit closer. "Hey, uh...yeah I am actually...gotta find um...well, my flit decided to steal a piece of my clothing and I have to get a new one." He paused a moment and ran an idea over and over in his mind before actually voicing it. "Hey...um... would you mind giving me a ride?"
Angeeal
Mikan grinned, blowing a few bangs out of his face that had escaped their shiny clasp. "Great!" Someone else to make the journey entertaining. Nothing about the other's appearance threw him off. He was an odd sight himself with his glass trinkets and bright clothing. "You sure can. Hop up on the wagon and ride with Kanlar. Amber can take the weight. The wagon's actually light for her," he answered the question, stopping his mount and pointing back toward his other two brothers who were about caught up to them.
Tialar, the taller of the other two, had just burst into laughter at a joke his younger brother had made in return to one of his, his black not even flinching at the outburst. "Good one, good one. I gotta tell ma that one!" Still laughing, he turned to their company and waved, dirty-blonde hair a whirlwind mess from having raced a few times, but still mostly in it's clasp. "Hello! I'm Tialar. It's great to meet you!" he said to Angeeal.
Mikan chuckled. "Do forgive us. We're a very cheery bunch. Kanlar, he's headed for the Weyr, too, and asked for a lift."
The youngest of the three smiled and slid over on the wagon seat. "Come on up. It's safer on the wagon anyways. Mikan and Tialar like to race a lot," he explained with a friendly smile for the other traveler.
Mikan<>Tialar<>Kanlar
Angeeal sighed in relief and nodded. "Thanks, I really appreciate this," he said as he turned towards the wagon that was approaching. He smiled at the occupants and had to smile at their joyful yet comfortable behavior. They acted like his family, open and comfortable with each other, much like he himself was with his brother and sister. He shook his head at Mikan as he climbed up onto the wagon with Kanlar. "Nothing to forgive, you guys remind me of my family when we travel together with my parents herds." Once he was settled down and was sure his trousers wouldn't do the embarrassing act of falling down he looked to Kanlar. "So, why are you guys heading to the Weyr? Going for the Hatching perhaps?"
Angeeal
----
Mikan's mount pranced a bit then nosed at the golden mare pulling the wagon. Her rider grinned as he awaited Angeeal to settle before letting Star take head again and start out 'leading' the others. "We're always enjoyin' our time. That's the best way to live."
"I'm Tialar," the tall one on the black introduced himself. "Mikan's horrible at introductions, " he added with a grin, keeping his mare near the wagon.
Kanlar waited until Angeeal seemed settled, then he 'kissed' to his mare and she started onward again happily. He grinned at Angeeal, eyes drifting toward the other's long hair. He could make something of that. "I don't think I caught your name," he said, then answered his question, "Mainly to see what's there. The Hatchin' would be great to see. Prob'ly give us all ideas. Y'see, we're all GlassSmiths and of course, brothers, too. Ma and pa told us to go ahead and wander and see what we can come up with." Then an idea struck the young Crafter. "Are you from the Weyr?"
Mikan<>Kanlar<>Tialar
***
Angeeal smiled as he watched the runner and sighed, they reminded him so much of the steed his father had, though he was just a tad bit smaller than Mikan's. "Well that is good to hear, a family must always enjoy their time together." As they moved off he thingyed his head slightly as Kanlar looked at his hair and he flipped it playfully, the long blonde tresses falling over his shoulder from the high ponytail he held it in. "Like it? I'm the only one in my family with yellow hair," he smiled before ansering his question. "My name is Angeeal...ahhh, so you're nomads for the time being? Well, Angel Cove is as good a place as any to settle down, who knows, perhaps one of you could Stand. The eggs are supposed to hatch at any time now."
Angeeal
----
Mikan and Star trotted on ahead, but not too awful far. They were still and easy shout away.
Tialar stayed at the wagon, curious of Angeeal, but more than ready to hear what his younger brother would bring out of a conversation. Kanlar was always the talker and found out a fair bit, too.
Kanlar grinned at Angeeal. "That we do. You should meet our ma. No one can be sad when she's around unless you've done somethin' wrong, then it's ma's punishment which is hardly ever extreme." He nodded about the other's hair. "Love it. Ya' know I could fancy that up quite a bit. That's what I do best."
"Don't ever bet anything with him," Tialar said with a smile. "Or at least, don't ever lose the bet."
Kanlar chuckled and playfully punched his brother. "I ain't bad. Ya' gotta admit, ma looks beautiful when I get to mess with her hair." He turned back to his passenger. "Aside from GlassSmithin' , I style hair. If I coulda made a livin' that way, I'da just kept the glass on the side." He smiled at the possibility of Standing. He'd done his homework and listened well about Pern. "I'd love to have a dragon. I think that would be the best thing on Pern. What about you?" he asked. Was Angeeal one of those Candidates?
Mikan<>Tialar<>Kanlar
***
Angeeal laughed softly and tugged at the tresses gently, pulling a silky lock up to look at the golden color. "I don't know, I've never styled it before. I guess I could let you do something with it as long as you don't cut it, my little ones would hate you forever...wouldn' t matter that it'd grew back." He sighed remembering how made Crisis had been when a wherry had gone after his hair as a youth and completely mangled it...poor little flit could roost in his hair for many sevendays. Looking to Tialar he smiled. "I don't know a good bet never hurt no one...though it all depends on whatcha betting," he said, a spark in Angeeal eyes. "Ooohhh, GlassSmiths, huh? I've seen some beautiful work in my life, what kind do you do, figurines or vases?" Perhaps he could convince one of them to make a vase for his own mother.
At Kanlar's interest in a dragon he smiled. "Well, like I said, a Hatching is coming up soon and you could Stand, afterall with twenty eggs this will help in growing the strength of the Weyr." When he was asked about himself Impressing he shook his head. "Dragons are nice and all, but I have my eyes set on something a bit more wild, you know one of those misunderstood creatures. I want a Wher."
Angeeal
----
Kanlar smiled and shrugged. "I never cut, just style. Unless someone wants their hair cut. That I can do pretty well, too, but I like fancy so stylin's best. If ya' want me to, I could give ya' a style or two to see whacha might like while I'm here." Although with eggs on the Sands, he was thinking that he might be able to stay permanently.
Tialar chuckled. "Oh, it don't matter the bet. If Kanlar wins, someone's gettin' a styling and he can do funny and even make it look like it had been cut. He's good." At the mention of whers, he couldn't help but smile. Another creature to add to his creations. "I've never seen a wher. Bet I could make one."
Kanlar nodded to his brother with a smile. "Tialar's real good at figurines. I do jewelry best and Mikan does just about anything. So between us, I'm sure we could make anythin' asked of us. If not, we can send for ma and pa."
Kanlar<>Tialar<>Mikan
***
Angeeal smiled and nodded. "Wouldn't mind at all, all's I've been able to do is tie is back, never much else with it. My mother loves my hair since my grandfather on her side is the only one in our family to ever have blonde hair." At the mention of figurines and jewelry he nodded approvingly. "Well, my mother's birthday is coming up and she loves flowers but I can never get out to a Gather to find her a nice vase for what she gathers...would you be able to make one? And no, I wouldn't want to trouble you with having to fetch your parents," he said reassuringly.
"Whers...they' re very misunderstood but I believe them to be one of the most beautiful creatures on Pern. They cannot fly well but they are powerful and loyal to the end as well as protective," he sighed. "They actually remind me of a really big flit, like my little ones Crisis and Melia." It seemed that the instant he mentioned the little flit's names they would appear. Out of thin air appeared the small slender form of a brown firelizard and the larger than average form of a green. The little flits circled around the tiny caravan before the brown dove down right into Angeeal's hair his tail wrapping about his throat as he snuggled close, peeking his head out curiously to look at Kanlar. Angeeal couldn't help but laugh and shook his head lightly before offering his arms as a perch for the green. She immediately took the offer and took her roost, looking about with her owlish eyes.
Angeeal
----
Kanlar grinned again. "Sounds like a bit of a deal workin'." Of course most things had a price on them, but if you were cheap and good, you often got better business. And they had no shortage of supplies at the moment. "Mikan could probably do that for ya'," he said in response to the vase. "Tia, go see what Mikan'll charge for a vase."
Tialar nodded and moved his mare forward to catch up to their brother ahead of them.
Kanlar was quite interested in these whers and kept listening, growing more curious by the moment. When the firelizards came about, his interest immediately switched to the miniature dragons. "Wow! They're both beautiful! How'd you get 'em?" he asked, letting Amber pick her way along the road while his eyes settled on the green since she was in better view.
Kanlar<>Tialar
***
Angeeal sighed deeplyas she shrugged his arm, causing the green to
scoot up and cling to his shoulder. "Well, my older sister breeds
them...she has four and every now and then, but she tries to get them
out to breed with the wild ones. I got these two about ten turns ago
from a clutch one of her greens had lain." He then turned his eyes to
the bicep perched green and said. "Now, you little pest," he said
affectionately, "where's my belt buckle. You stole it this morning
and I've been looking all over for mother to find another." The green
immediately hide her little face against his shoulder and he rolled
his eyes shrugging his shoulder to jostle her a bit. "Come on, come
on, if I don't have to both mother for another then just give it
back, I'll get you a shiny when we get home tonight." Melia looked
upa t her human and glanced at Kanlar and Crisis before chirping and
blinking 'Between'. Rubbing the bridge of his nose he sighed before
looking to Kanlar. "Sorry, the only reason I'm out and about is
because Melia decided she liked my shiny belt buckle...she' s been
stealing shiny things since she was a hatchling, crazy little
creature."
Angeeal
---
Kanlar listened and watched with a smile as Angeeal gently scolded his pet. When she disappeared, he let his gaze drift back to the brown a moment before back at Angeeal. "I got a stash of buckles necklaces and such in the wagon. I can dig one out for ya' when we get to the Weyr," he offered. He was a natural giver, plus he such an abundance of them. One given away wouldn't be much of a loss. "Or if you'd like, I could find somethin' to suit your little one," he added.

Angeeal thought of the offer for a moment and touched his mind to Melia's. "No, I think she's actually getting it as we speak...but I would much appreciate if you could spare something that would keep her busy. Crisis watched from his own perch and chirped softly as if wonder why he was being ignored. Angeeal nuzzled the brown who finally scooted out a bit on his human's shoulder and looked around curiously, his eyes a slow whirling tone of green on orange.

"I'm sure I got a bracelet she can have and be mesmerized at it for quite the while," Kanlar said, thinking of a small stash of glittery bracelets and necklaces he'd made. Well, that particular stash had some experimental water bubbles in it and they'd worked quite well, except that getting a water bubble to keep while heated so hot was hard so half of his attempts hadn't worked the greatest. Angeeal smiled with a nod. "That would be perfect. The instant she could fly she began to horde anything shiny. "Yes, his eyes are like that when he's nervous...which is usually around anyone new." He then turned his eyes to the brown and pressed his nose to the little guy's chest. This caused the brown to turn to him and lay his head on Angeeal's nose to look into his eyes. "Kanlar's nice, don't be nervous." Crisis blinked and looked back at Kanlar before gazing at Angeeal, he then looked back at Kanlar and chirped, his eyes swirling to a contented green.

"I'll dig somethin' out when we get there, then. No cost to you. Consider it a gift to the little one," he said with a smile, then watched and listened curiously. Nervous eyes. Interesting. Then they changed and he was even more surprised. "Now they're green. Do they do that often?" he asked.
